GDMA SQL Server Login

20. November 2015 00:37 by Admin | 0 Comments

GDPro/GDMA applications use a specific SQL Server login for access as the login requires dbowner permissions to allow it to drop temporary report tables, for example.

We have made it easy to add the default SQL Server login using the Arise DB Tool. This tool can be freely distributed and used in a commercial environment.
The software is provided "as is" and the author disclaims all warranties with regard to this software including all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. SQL Server Authentication Mode

Do the following in SQL Server Management Studio (this can be downloaded and installed from Microsoft)

Add GDMA Login using Arise DB Tool

Login to SQL Server

Click Users

Tick Yes in step 1

If an error message displays, it maybe due to the login already in SQL Server and needs redoing:

In SQL Server Management Studio, do the following:

And:

Once done, redo the steps to add the login using the Arise DB Tool.

Trust Removal

18. November 2015 01:03 by Admin | 0 Comments

Removing a trust requires a backup of the database, the trust id and name. There is no downtime in order to remove the trust as we will send an application that will process the trust removal from your specific SQL Server and GDPro/GDMA database.

Removing the trust removes everything pertaining to it such as owners, aliases, trustees, distributions, payments, successions, grants, shares and financial history. Once removed, the information is no longer retrievable.

We have an automated process to do the removal. It requires reviewing (and development if required) before each use to ensure any database changes (new fields or tables, for example) that may had been made since the last time it was ran, are covered.

The reason we require the backup of the database is so we can test the removal process is only removing information pertaining to the trust.

GDMA purchase is required if the trust is to be transferred to another organisation. A fee applies if the trust is to be transferred to an organisation that currently has a GDMA license. Please let us know if this is required.

Import trust template

13. November 2015 07:07 by Admin | 0 Comments

Importing from Maori Land Court

New trusts are imported by us with either information you provide or we can attempt to source from the Maori Land Court. We are having problems with getting the data from MLC, so will try other means. Otherwise you may need to contact MLC directly for an electronic list.

Importing Fee

The fee for importing the information is based on the number of records and columns that need to be processed and if there are additional needs, such as merging owner records with an existing owner in GDMA.

Why is there a fee for importing blocks?

As with other software such as MYOB, Flexitime payroll or XERO, the package pricing is on a per record basis or per company used within the packages.

Are there limits on how many blocks can be used?

The cap is 10,000 owner records per database. 20,000 owner records if also have the grants application.

GDMA Only

New blocks will only work in GDMA as GDPro is no longer supported due to the outdated technology.

Quote Template

We will provide a quote based on the information we receive. An example quote template is below:

Using our import template provides a 25% discount from the base fee. Download and fill in from row 3:Trust Import Template 22Aug17.xlsx (9.03 kb) Please do not change row 1 or 2 or column order.

The following is for share and $ transaction history:

Technical: The installed files and registry settings

12. November 2015 15:08 by Admin | 0 Comments

The link below is a report from an installation monitoring application, which is a result of a GDMA installation:

monitored_report.htm (901.1KB)

GDMA also retains the use of the GDPro adhoc reporting system. It does means some files are added on the computer to replicate the GDPro environment. Files will be placed into a directory called c:\program files\gdpro\ or c:\program files\gdpro (x86)\
These are the install files

Import Statement to allow editing of layout

11. November 2015 12:45 by Admin | 0 Comments

This process allows a statement file to be imported into GDMA so the layout can be modified.

When editing the layouts of special reports such as statements and cheque layouts, avoid deleting layout items such as text boxes and labels as these maybe used during report production, otherwise the report may display errors and subsequently not able to display. Also avoid moving the items to different sections of the report, such as moving a text box from the page header section to the page footer.

Steps To Import

1. Click on the link below to download a zip file that contains a statement file to be imported.

GDMA Core Statement 10Nov15.zip (13.8KB)

2. Extract the statement file (called an RPX file) from within the zip file

3. In GDMA, open the RPX files utility

4. Click on the [...] button to select the RPX file, then click Open

5. Set Save As to GDMA Report

6. Select Statement.

Warning: Ensure that this is set correctly before clicking OK as this process is irreversible. Selecting the incorrect report will overwrite it, losing it's layout and the only way to retrieve the layout is through a gdpro database backup.

Edit Statement Layout

1. Select Statement report

2. Edit Layout

Sample Layout Change: Logo

1. Click on the logo

2. On right side, Properties, click Image row (as shown below) and a button [...] will display. Clicking on this will allow selection of another logo. Please note, large images will slow down report production.

Sample Layout Change: Text Change

1. Click on a Textbox

2. Edit text in Text row, as shown below

Remove a distribution

11. November 2015 09:49 by Admin | 0 Comments

Please contact us first to discuss the implications of removing a distribution as removing a distribution is not reversible and may affect reporting and payment reconciliations.

Payments made against a distribution have a link to the distribution. When removing the distribution - the link between the distribution transactions and their associated payments are lost. This means reconciliation that relies on these links, may no longer be possible. Any reporting that relies on these links could also be affected producing incorrect results.

Ensure that a backup of the GDPro database is made prior to processing a distribution removal.

Distribution Removal Steps

Select the Trust and Distribution - ensure to select the correct distribution asonce it is removed, it is no longer retrievable.

Click Remove and a message will display with a code which is to be provided to us so we can send an Access Code. Once the Access Code is entered, clicking OK will process the removal.

The reason for this step is so we can discuss if it is necessary to remove the distribution, the implications of removing the distribution and ensuring the correct distribution is selected for removal.

Reinstalling GDPro

16. October 2015 15:26 by Admin | 0 Comments

MS Access 2010 32bit runtime is required and can be downloaded from Microsoft's website.

GDPro does not work with MS Access 2013 (GDMA does not need MS Access) or any MS Access 64bit versions. Please read this from Microsoft regarding the reason why MS Access 2013

What is the difference between GDPro and GDMA?

Install GDPro Core Setup - requires admin rights. Then contact us for your specific GDPro install package. It will be custom made to link directly to your database server (SQL Server), GDPro/GDMA database and trusts.

Please read this if reports are not working and this if installing on Windows 8 or 10.

Importing custom made reports into GDMA

24. September 2015 22:56 by Admin | 0 Comments

The report import facility allows specially designed one-off reports that are written by us specifically for you, to be imported into your GDMA. These reports can then be shared throughout your organisation.

As these reports are mostly one-off designs and usually only useful to your organisation, the criteria and fields are specifically implemented just for it. Because of this, enhancements to the report will require additional work done by us back here at the office. The report has advanced features that is not managed by the ad-hoc reporting system. Regardless, the layout can be changed by you.

Step 1: Step 2:
